2018 Birkenshaw Music Festival

We will be holding our second Birkenshaw Music Festival throughout this October at St Paul's. Our first festival two years ago was a huge success and large audiences enjoyed top quality acts from across the musical spectrum.

This year's festival promises to be even better featuring some old favourites and some exciting new additions. Tickets for the festival will be available from 1st September.

Sunday 30th September at 7pm – Last Night of The Proms with the West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service Band        Tickets: £10 (including Supper)

Tuesday 2nd October at 7pm - Film Night, come along and enjoy a classic Hollywood musical  Free Admission

Wednesday 3rd  October at 7pm – Country and Western Mass - a Holy Communion service featuring some wonderful Christian Country and Western music. Free Admission

Friday 5th October at 7pm – Music Showcase with the Heckmondwike Grammar School Band & Musica Mirfield Tickets £5 

Saturday 6th October at 7pm - Music Quiz Night - test your musical knowledge with a fun music quiz.   Tickets £3

Sunday 7th October at 8pm – Autumn Leaves – from Opera North we welcome again Marie Claire Breen, Laura Kelly McInroy, Warren Gillespie and Ross McInroy for a wonderful evening of opera and classical music.

Saturday 13th October at 7pm – That Was the Great War That Was! Songs and sketches from World War One set in a Music Hall and performed by the children and young people of the Applause Theatre School with some guest appearance from the St Paul’s Players.   Tickets £5

Sunday 14th October at 10.30am - Harvest Festival Service - join us to celebrate harvest at our special service which will be led by the Bishop of Huddersfield Jonathan Gibbs.  Free Admission

Sunday 14th  October at 4pm – Evensong sung by Voces Seraphorum      Free Admission

Tuesday 16th  October at 7pm - Film Night, come along and enjoy a classic Hollywood musical  Free Admission

Wednesday 17th  October at 7pm - Reggae Mass - a Holy Communion service featuring some great Christian reggae music.  Free Admission

Friday 19th  October at 7pm -  Gilbert and Sullivan Cornucopia with The Batley G &S Society.   Tickets £5  

Saturday 20th October from 2pm  - Palm Court Afternoon Teas -  enjoy a traditional afternoon tea whilst being serenaded with a mixture of contemporary and classical music played by Nick and Alison Wise and Nick and Norah Wright.  Tickets £7.50

Sunday 21st October at 7pm – An Evening with Encore and Paul Stone – join us for a wonderful double header showcasing local talent. Encore are a 13 strong local group of singers and musicians whose varied repertoire has something for all tastes including songs from the shows, full company harmonised medleys, solos, duets and some comedy numbers. Paul Stone is a big band singer whose has performed all over Europe and has worked with Grammy award winning songwriter Diane Warren. Tickets £5

Tuesday 23rd  October at 7pm - Singalong Film Night, come along and enjoy singing along to a classic Hollywood musical. Free Admission

Thursday 25th  October at 2pm - Singalong Children's Film Matinee - a half term treat for all the family featuring a great recent children’s  blockbuster. Free Admission

Friday 26th October at 7pm – “Blitz and Bobby Socks" – an evening of 40s and 50s Music with Kitty LaMare (aka Kathryn Mitchell)    Tickets £5

Saturday 27th October at 7pm  - The Snake Davis Band for the final concert of our Music festival we are delighted to welcome the legendary saxophonist Snake Davis and his band. Snake has played with some of the biggest names in the music industry including M People, Lisa Stansfield and The Eurythmics. Snake is also famous for his iconic sax solo on Take That’s million selling hit A Million Love Songs. It promises to be a fantastic evening of soulful music as well upbeat tracks that will get everyone dancing.   Tickets £15  SOLD OUT

Sunday 28th October at 4pm - to close our festival we will be having a special Songs of Praise service with accompaniment from local organist Stephen Wright. The service will be followed by afternoon tea.  Free Admission
